The plated three are the tough ones. Vermeil is the precious one. Neither tarnishes on its own, and none of them turns skin green.
Why no plain silver? Sterling silver, the 925 stamped inside most silver jewelry, tarnishes and scratches on its own. So we use it in one place only: as the solid 925 core of our vermeil, sealed under 18K gold.
The letter size is the total height of the finished name, from the top of the tallest letter to the bottom of the lowest, so capitals and tails like g, y or p are included.
Small is 6 mm (0.25"), Medium 8 mm (0.3"), Large 10 mm (0.4"). Medium is what most people choose. Silk is a tall, airy script, so its three sizes run about 40 percent larger. The line under the preview shows the exact size of the name you typed.

Four finishes, and they are not the same kind of thing underneath.
- Gold · 18K Plated, Silver · Rhodium Plated and Rose Gold · 18K Plated. 304 surgical grade stainless steel finished in 18K gold PVD, rhodium or 18K rose gold PVD. PVD bonds the gold to the steel and is roughly five times more durable than standard gold plating.
- 18K Gold Vermeil. Solid 925 sterling silver under a minimum of 2.5 microns of real 18K gold. That is genuine precious metal, noticeably heavier in the hand, and warmer in color.
The plated three are the tougher option. Vermeil is the precious one.
Can I wear it in the shower or the pool?
In Gold, Silver and Rose Gold, yes. Those three are fully waterproof and tarnish resistant, so you can shower, swim, sweat and sleep in it without taking it off.
In 18K Gold Vermeil, take it off first. Vermeil is real gold over solid sterling silver rather than a hard industrial coating, so it asks for the care fine jewelry has always asked for: off before swimming, off before a long soak, and on after perfume rather than before.
Will it fade, tarnish or turn my skin green?
No. Skin turns green because of brass and copper, and there is neither in any Gemiria piece. There is no nickel either, which is what usually causes a reaction.
The plated finishes are covered for 10 years against premature tarnishing, discoloration and chain or clasp failure under normal wear. 18K Gold Vermeil is covered for 2 years on the same terms.
Is it hypoallergenic?
Yes. Every finish is nickel free and lead free. The plated three are 304 surgical grade stainless steel, the same family of steel used for body jewelry and surgical instruments, and 18K Gold Vermeil is solid sterling silver under real gold. If you react to costume jewelry, the metal causing it is almost always nickel, and there is none here.
How many characters fit?
Up to 3 names on this piece, each up to 8 characters. Each name goes in its own field, so you never have to fit two into one.
You choose Hiragana, Katakana or Kanji before you order. Kanji makes the shortest piece because each character carries a whole idea.
Will the Standard size fit an adult wrist?
Yes. Standard is 5" / 13cm and Large is 6.5" / 16.5cm, and both include a 1.6" / 4cm extender.
Standard reads short on paper because this is not a plain chain bracelet. The nameplate itself makes up part of the circumference, so the chain only has to cover the rest. Standard fits most adult wrists. Choose Large for a broader wrist or a looser, more relaxed fit.
How long does it take to arrive?
Every piece is made after you order it, so there are two clocks.

What happens if the name comes out wrong?
If the error is ours, we replace it free or refund you in full, and we cover the return shipping with a prepaid label. Report it within 14 days of delivery with your order number and a photo.
If the spelling submitted was wrong, we cannot remake it free, because the piece was cut to exactly that text. This is why the live preview exists, and why customization can still be changed within 24 hours of ordering, before production starts.
Personalized items are exempt from the standard EU right of withdrawal under Consumer Rights Directive Article 16(c). That exemption never applies to a defect or a production error.
How do I look after it?
Very little, and none of it is fussy.
- Wipe it with the included microfiber cloth after lotion or perfume.
- For a deeper clean use mild soap and warm water, then pat dry.
- Store it in its box, and keep pieces apart so they do not scratch each other.
- Keep it away from bleach, chlorine soaking, abrasive cleaners and ultrasonic cleaners.
- In 18K Gold Vermeil, take it off before swimming, long soaks, perfume and hairspray.
Can the names be in different scripts on the same piece?
Yes. Each name is typed separately, so one can be in Latin and the next in Arabic, Hebrew, Hangul, Japanese or Cyrillic. Families rarely all received their names in the same alphabet, and the piece does not require them to.
